The Trial Scouts
Graham Wren – Fulham FC
Graham taught PE for 35 years, also working with Southampton FC in his later years of teaching. Once he retired he was employed by Celtic FC for 3 years as a Senior Scout, which then lead him to be be employed by both Portsmouth FC and Middlesbrough FC on Match Analysis for the 1st teams. He then worked for Liverpool FC within Academy Recruitment. Finally in 2011 he joined Fulham FC where he has worked for both the Senior and Academy departments.
David Mcnish – Leicester City FC
Dave has a wealth of football knowledge during a long career in the game.
He was born in Nottingham and has lived in Corby for the last 45 years. He managed at Non-League levels including two promotions, two runners-up places plus a couple of winning cup finals.
After retiring from active football management he joined Grimsby Town as a scout in the Youth Recruitment Section, eventually becoming the Club’s 1st team Chief Scout. Since 2011 he has been in Leicester City’s Academy Scouting Department and operates around the East Midlands, East Anglia and Lincolnshire areas.
Dave Fairbrother – Birmingham City FC
Dave Fairbrother has been involved in football for 40 years in all capacities, and scouting at all levels for 20 plus years.
Dave has recommended players that are now playing in the Premier league / Championship and the football league including;
- Che Adams, Southampton
- Jack Marriott, Derby County
- Brendan Galloway, Everton / Luton town
- Michael Jacobs, Wigan Athletic
Dave has worked as a scout for Ipswich Town FC, Nottingham Forest FC, Coventry City FC, Milton Keynes Don’s and is currently with Birmingham City FC. Dave as also been head of recruitment at Kettering town FC youth academy, Corby town, Rushden and Diamonds academies.
John Taylor – Cambridge United
John Taylor is a former professional footballer. As a player, striker Taylor made over 500 league appearances, scoring 153 goals, the majority of which were for Cambridge United. He also played for Bristol Rovers and Luton Town with loans to Lincoln City.
John has also been a football coach and manager at various clubs.
Also present will be scouts from from Aston Villa FC, EFL Div 2 Cambridge Utd FC, EFL Div 2 Colchester Utd FC, Bury Town FC and Newmarket Town FC
Meet The Staff
Ben is a former Ipswich town youth player, and played 1st team professional football for Luton Town and Cambridge Utd, he played non-league football at Canvey island, and Chelmsford City.
He is currently 1st team manager at Bury Town FC, in the Bet Victor isthmian North Division.
Ben is instrumental in giving youth players the opportunity to gain vital experience in mens football, to aid their development and understanding of the mens game, and the real world outside pro football academies.
Carlos played 497 professional games and has 90 caps for Trinidad and Tobago, he played in their 1st ever appearance in a world cup in 2006 in Germany. He played in the premier league for Sunderland Ipswich Town, and scored a memorable goal live on sky TV against Burnley in a 3-2 win that helped Sunderland stay up in the top division.
He came to England to join Wrexham, went onto Luton Town, Sunderland, Ipswich and Millwall, and is currently still playing for Woodbridge Town FC in the Thurlow Nunn Premier league.
He also currently coaches in the Ipswich Town FC Academy Centre Of Excellence programme.
We are delighted to have Carlos onboard as an ambassador, coach and player mentor bringing all of his knowledge and experience to the team.
Alan is an ex-international and professional player who made 547 appearances sporting 119 goals over a 19 year professional career. Starting as a youth player at Aston Villa, he went on to play for 10 different professional clubs including Burnley, Rotherham Utd, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Huddersfield Town
Alan has 5 Republic of Ireland U21 caps and 10 Full Republic of Ireland caps.
In 2013 Alan joined the coaching team at Ipswich Town, where he went on to enhance his coaching qualifications and coach the clubs U18 Academy squad. In 2014 Alan retired from professional football.
Alan is now working as Director of Football at Bury Town FC and Head of football at Culford School in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
